Tri-Valley Obituaries: Coordinator of Livermore Senior Services Center, WWII Vet

Some of the people with ties to Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon and Danville who passed away recently.

Alan J Cernigoj, 66, of Danville died on Sept. 19 after a five-year fight against cancer. A devoted family man, he is survived by his wife, two children and two grandchildren. There will be a celebration of his life at the Chapel of San Ramon Valley on Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.

Marie Schweikert, 89, of Livermore died in her sleep on Sept. 21. She taught at Chabot College and was the Coordinator of the Livermore Senior Services Center.

Juliet Johannessen, 93, of Alamo died shortly after celebrating her 70th wedding anniversary with her husband, Edward, whom she met at Richmond High School in the 1930s. A native of Lucca, Italy, she was a member of the Crow Canyon Country Club and the last surviving Charter Member of the Assistance League of Diablo Valley.

Friends and family of Robert Gene Re, 73, are invited to attend a celebration of the Livermore resident’s life at the Wente Event on Oct. 8 at 11:30 a.m. He passed away on Sept. 23.

Karen Lynn Scoma, 52, died peacefully on Sept. 22. at John Muir Hospital. A Bay Area native, she was known for her sense of humor, great cooking and passion for her family.  

William Shanahan, 89, was a veteran of World War II and an employee of MetLife for 40 years. His beloved wife of 51 years, Christine Shanahan, preceded him in death. He died peacefully in his sleep on Sept. 27 in his San Ramon home.
