Tri-Valley Death Notices: Former Mayor; Saxophone Player; Air Force Vet

Nick Amador, a resident of Dublin, died on Jan. 8 in Walnut Creek at the age of 84. Born in Denver. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Nick served in North Africa and Vietnam. He was also the head of security at the Oakland Museum until he retired in 1992. He is survived by Rose, his wife of 62 years. He is also survived by their seven children, their 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The funeral will be on Thursday, Jan 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Dublin. The burial will be at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, with full military honors, in Dixon on Friday, Jan. 17 at 12:30 p.m.

Clifford Blackett, a resident of Pleasanton, died on Dec. 29 at the of 96. He enjoyed playing the saxophone. A sportsman, he also enjoyed skiing and playing golf. He is survived by his two daughters, three grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

John Denning, a resident of San Ramon, died on Dec. 30 at the age of 65. Born in Oakland, John served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, where he received two Purple Hearts. He worked for the family business, Service Pattern and Foundry Company, as well as his own business, John Denning and Associates. He is survived by his wife, five children and two stepchildren. There will be a celebration of life at the Veterans Hall at 301 Main Street in Pleasanton on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m.

Lilia Garza, a resident of Livermore, died on Jan. 6 with her family present at the age of 82. She is survived by Leo Garza, her husband of 59 years. She is also survived by their five children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Randall Alan Macur, a resident of Livermore, died on Jan. 8 at the age of 66. He is survived by his two children and four grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, Jan. 18 1 p.m. at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hope Hospice, 6500 Dublin Blvd., Suite 100, Dublin, CA 94568-3151
