Marine Lance Corporal Welcomed Home as a Hero

Pleasanton Military Families welcomed a Marine back to Dublin

The Dublin community welcomed Lance Corporal Jeffery De La Cruz to his mother's home in Dublin on June 9. De La Cruz, who is an Arroyo High School graduate, enlisted in 2011 and was deployed overseas to Thailand and Okinawa after completing training in 2012.
De La Cruz was greeted with a Warriors Watch motorcycle escort, along with friends and family starting from the Gay Nineties Pizza Company in Pleasanton. The Pleasanton Military Families non-profit organization hosted the festivities.

Pleasanton Mayor Jerry Thorne presented De La Cruz with a letter of commendation for De La Cruz' service to the nation. Dublin Vice Mayor Don Biddle gave De La Cruz a certificate of recognition from the Dublin City Council.

According to Pleasanton Military Families, De La Cruz is currently stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California.

Jeff graduated from Arroyo High School in June 2010.  At the request of his mother, he waited a year after graduation to join the Marine Corps.  He graduated from MCRD in March 2012, did more
field training, then for 3 months additional training for his MOS as an Amphibious Assault Vehicle Crewman 1833. He also has spent time at 29 Palms.  He deployed in December 2012 with 1/5 Alpha Company on the 31st MEU with training stops at Okinawa and Thailand.  He returned to Camp Pendleton on May 20, 2013 where he will be stationed, hopefully, for quite awhile.
