Open Heart Kitchen Accepting Turkey Donations for Annual 'Turkey Giveaway'

Beginning today donations can be dropped of at several locations around Tri-Valley.

The Open Heart Kitchen is now collecting turkeys for their annual Turkey Giveaway program. Starting on Nov. 4, the non-profit organization will be accepting donations of turkeys at several locations around Tri-Valley. Those interested in donating can drop off turkeys until Nov. 22, according to Volunteer Coordinator Shawnda Bost.

The organization is requesting turkeys between 10 to 14 pounds and will also accept non-perishable holiday meal fixings. According to a post on Facebook, the Open Heart Kitchen needs 1500 turkeys for the Tri-Valley families in need.

Open Heart Kitchen wrote, via Facebook, "Frozen turkeys can also be ordered online and delivered to Ridgeview Commons in Pleasanton for Open Heart Kitchen through many Tri-Valley grocery stores."

Bost says that those in need can pick up a turkey and a bag of groceries on Nov. 26 and Nov. 27, between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.

"We will hand out turkeys and groceries until they run out," Bost said. "It will be a first come first-served basis and clients must have a valid id and be a resident of Livermore, Dublin, or Pleasanton. It will be one turkey per family."
