Congressman Recognizes Retired Alameda County Superior Court Judge

Congressman Eric Swalwell spoke to Congress about recently retired Superior Judge Hugh Walker, thanking him for his years of service

Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) recognized recently retired Alameda County Superior Judge Hugh Walker in front of Congress on Tuesday. Walker had been on the bench in Department 701 at the Gale Schenone Hall of Justice in Pleasanton at the time of his retirement at the end of Oct. 2013.

According to Swalwell, Walker, 67, who was a graduate of Santa Clara University, was appointed in 1994 as a Municipal Court judge by Gov. Pete Wilson and was elevated to the Superior Court in 1998.

Swalwell, who worked with Walker during his time as a prosecutor with Alameda County District Attorney's Office, said Walker was known for being "a tough but down-to-earth and compassionate judge who never shies away from a light-hearted moment in his courtroom."

In the video, the Democratic congressman from Dublin thanked Walker for his 19 years of service to the community.
