Aggressive use of Linkedin for targeting organizations

A process to aggressively pursue targeted organizations

Let’s take a look at an aggressive use of using Linkedin to get informational interviews. One of my clients developed this process to aggressively pursue his targeted organizations. He would use the search feature of Linkedin, only for searching for people. On the search bar, to the far right, he would click on "All Filters," then key in the phrase “Recruiter” job title for the targeted organizations.

Once he finds a recruiter who works at his targeted organization on Linkedin, he would "connect" with them and he change the standard connection message to a brief cover-letter like note. He averaged about a 95% success rate on “friending” these recruiters and that's where he got all of his interviews. As a result of this strategy almost all of his networking on Linkedin was with recruiters.

When a qualified job position popped up with one of his targeted organizations, he would send the job description, his resume and a T-letter with his specific qualifications for the open job – and ask to be interviewed.

Needless to say he was not out of work long. He even used Linkedin to research the people that were going to interview him, to the point where he felt that he already knew them.
