FOODNEARU RECOMMENDS; Fish n Chips Dublin

Located at 7410 Amador Valley Blvd, Dublin, is Dublin Fish n' Chips. I can tell you emphatically that this place is a hidden gem! I met the two owners, Hien Hoang, and Hung Nguyen in November 2013. I was at first a bit hesitant  because neither one was British. (A sorry comment on my own ignorance.) However within five minutes of our sit-down, I was not only impressed with both gentlemen, but I was more informed about what it is to make authentic BRITISH Fish n’ Chips…Both gentlemen grew up in the Asia of my youth. (I was born and raised in the Philippines, but that is another story for another day.) Both men lived close to the sea; both men eventually immigrated to what is now their country just as much as it is mine… Mr. Hoang and Mr. Nguyen paid their dues to become American citizens, and they both made the ultimate sacrifice of leaving homeland and family for a dream. I admire these men as much as I do any pioneer, willing to risk everything for the dream of a better life. In our first wonderfully enlightening meeting, I remembered a line from the John Denver song ‘Rocky Mountain High’ that says; “He was born in the summer of his twenty seventh year, coming HOME to a place he’d never been before.” Hien & Hung are HOME, in Dublin California, and they both have the gift of making everyone else feel at home when visiting Dublin Fish n’ Chips.By the way, Dublin Fish n’ Chips is the ONLY Fish n’ Chips restaurant in the Tri-Valley area, and for my money the best. (Other restaurants offer fish & chips as a part of their menu.) Dublin Fish n’ Chips menu offers a selection of fish tacos made with Mahi Mahi too. YUM…  And a selection of different fish dishes served fried or grilled and featuring Salmon, Prawns, Mahi Mahi, Tilapia, (my Filipino taste buds favorite) and even Catfish. If you order the fried Catfish, be sure to have it with the seasoned rice and coleslaw. You’ll be in the heart of Mississippi in your mind. Those of you who have visited the deep southern states KNOW what I mean. Fried Catfish, rice, coleslaw, mmm’m it doesn’t get much more Southern than that…Do yourself a favor and go to Dublin Fish n’ Chips. Meet two of the kindest warmest gentlemen you will ever be lucky enough to know, and have a great meal while you are there. Honestly the place doesn’t look like a five star Michelin rated destination, but then it’s not intended to… The food and genuine smiles of the people you’ll see there are what it’s all about… If you can’t make it to Dublin Fish n’ Chips, then by all means let us here a ‘Foodnearu’ deliver a little bit of heaven to your door.
