Summer is upon us, but no one told the weather! I would also like to invite you to my First Annual Swalwell's Shamrock Family Bowl at Earl Anthony's Dublin Bowl -- Wednesday, June 22 at 5:30p.m.

Dear Dublin and our friends:

Summer is upon us, but no one told the weather!  There is lots to report, and I hope you find this edition informative.

I would also like to invite you to my first annual Swalwell's Shamrock Family Bowl at Earl Anthony's Dublin Bowl -- Wednesday, June 22, at 5:30p.m.  I plan to have a family community event every year and look forward to kicking it off at Earl Anthony's.  An invitation is attached and available here.  So find some "spare" time and join me!

Council Update

The circus is coming to town!  Starting July 8, Swalwell family dinners will no longer be the only circus in town.  At this past Tuesday's council's meeting the council approved Circus Vargas's temporary use permit.  Circus Vargas is a family traveling circus production that takes its show all over the United States.  The circus will be across the street from Hacienda Crossings and will start Friday, July 8, with 11-12 performances. More information to come soon!  Check them out at: www.circusvargas.com

At this past Tuesday's meeting, the Council also approved a joint facilities use agreement with the school district.  I campaigned on building a better relationship with the school district and was proud to support this agreement.  It's been 20 years since we've updated the shared use agreement.  There's a LOT of legalese, but in short this agreement will make it easier for organizations to book fields and facilities through the city.  If you are an organization that needs a field or facilities please let me know how I can direct you to our city's staff.

Farmer's Market Report

The farmer's market at Emerald Glen has been going every Thursday (4-8 p.m.) for about a month and has been a huge success.  I had a great time last Thursday at First Thursdays.  The music was great and I enjoyed Dublin's own, Kissos wine, made by residents Kamini and Paris Georgallis.  But every Thursday is a great time.  And each week is a different theme:

  • My favorite, First Thursdays (first week of the month): Join us every "First Thursday" for a lively concert in the park, wine tastings from local wineries (including one from Dublin), and food samplings from some of the area’s many restaurants and food purveyors.

  • “Community Night” (second and fifth week of the month):  Community night will bring Dubliners together, providing an opportunity for local residents and groups to show off their many different talents.  This evening will also offer residents information about Dublin's local service organizations and non-profits, including local dance troupes, cheer squads, music groups, along with other groups serving the Dublin community.

  • “Family Night” (third week of the month) – This event is offered to give families an opportunity to spend more time together.  Our farmers market will provide games, face paintings, clowns and a host of local exhibits for kids of all ages.

  • “Healthy Dublin” (fourth week of the month) – A healthy Dublin is a goal we all share.  This event will help get our residents on the road to better health.  This evening will will feature exercise demonstrations and guided walks around the park.  Residents can also receive free health screenings, blood pressure checks and nutritional advice.  Save room for cooking demonstrations, where you'll learn from local chefs, who will use fresh ingredients from our own market.

  • Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you.  I look forward to seeing you on the 22nd at my Family Shamrock Bowl.
