What Should Go Here?

Do you have a vision for this vacancy?

What do you think should go in this empty space, which used to be Romano's Macaroni Grill, located at 4805 Hacienda Drive in the Hacienda Crossings shopping center?

Patch reader Darci Gutierrez asked if there was any chance an Olive Garden may fill the space.

Gutierrez wrote, via email:

"What kind of update do you have on the old Macaroni Grill in East Dublin? We kept hearing it was to be some sort of Italian place. Do you have any updates? My family is pulling for an Olive Garden."

When asked about the potential tenants for the building, Linda Smith representing the City of Dublin wrote, via email:

"There is interest in the site but nothing solid yet. Lots of people are pulling for an Olive Garden."

Smith confirmed that Olive Garden is aware of the local interest for the restaurant to open in Dublin.

If you could bring new business into this space, what type of business would you like to see move in? Would you like to have an Olive Garden in that building? Post your suggestions in the comments section below.

There's a Red Lobster in Dublin up for contracting bids. Not sure where it's going, but the former Macaroni Grill space seems like it would be appropriate.

How about an Olive Garden or Maggiano's?

Interesting comments as both Olive Garden and Red Lobster are owned by the same company- Darden.

Jazz / music club, small venue live entertainment and dining...for adults. Why does everything have to be all food, or all for the kids? Is it any wonder once our children reach 18 they don't want to live here anymore?

My family all believe an Olive Garden would do great here. A good second choice is Red Lobster. Come on Darden and join our flourishing Dublin/Pleasanton area. You won't regret it...

Maggiano's!
TriValleyKarate February 08, 2013 at 07:17 PM
Not sure why, but last night after training I was driving home thinking about this because I'd like to find a place perfect to meet with families for a karate dinner, a private room would be cool too - great for revenue and an intimate atmosphere for parties ...the space might be small for a Maggiano's; they are usually large.spaces... Let's see how our voice plays out :)

I'd go to an Olive Garden if they moved in, but I also like timothy's idea of a live music place for adults.

A mix would be nice to have once a week even, local artists can play. Maybe we can pitch it to Darden :-) - they own other nice chains - http://www.darden.com/restaurants/

The biggest problem is that strip centers like the Hacienda Crossings simply aren't "hot" places to locate. Brands like Maggiano's, Yard House, and Seasons 52 only locate in places with strong and upscale retail anchors (which is why you'll only see them at places like the Galleria at Roseville, Arden Fair, Valley Fair, and Santana Row). Stoneridge isn't of the caliber of those four malls yet, but I could see Seasons 52 or Yard House eventually coming if they had the space. As for a strip center like Hacienda Crossings, a more universal chain like Red Lobster or Olive Garden is really all we can hope for at this point.

I like Timothy's idea or a Hawaiian Grill Luau type of place with fresh salad bar since Fresh Choice disappeared.
