Looking Back at the History of Dublin

A photograph can say a lot about Dublin's past.

Each week on Dublin Patch we'll feature a photograph showcasing the history of Dublin.

Elizabeth Isles, Director of is helping us share Dublin's history with the residents who live in the city today.

This photo is of the oldest church in California. Michael Murray and Jeremiah Fallon, brothers-in-law and natives of Ireland, settled in Dublin in early 1850. In 1858, Fallon and Murray each donated a four acre plot and construction began for the church.

Dedicated in 1860, St. Raymond Church, the oldest non-mission church in California, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The first wedding was held at the church in 1865. Old St. Raymond Church continues to be the spot for special weddings to this day.
