Keeping Kids Busy... At the Dublin Library

Local places to take kids of all ages! In this weekly column, a local mom will explore things to do with your children.

School may be back in session for kids, but the younger ones still need academic activities while their brothers and sisters are in class.  Why not visit the Dublin Library?  The library has several activities that will suit little kids during the day and older ones after school.  They also have a variety of volunteer programs that may appeal to your teenager.  If you have not had time to visit the Dublin library you should move it to the top of your list.

The facility is lovely, and the resources are bountiful.  Just the other day I checked out some DVDs for my 3-year-old about numbers and shapes and he really enjoyed them.  We also checked out several children's music CDs to spice up our usual kids' music selection for car rides.  The Dublin library has the following kid friendly events coming up:

  • Every Monday from Sept. 13 - Nov. 1 - Preschool Story time for children ages 3-5 from 10:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m.  The program includes stories, songs and finger plays.
  • Sept. 21 and Sept. 23 - Mother Goose on the Loose for children 10-24 months are invited to join for bells, scarves, rhythm sticks, flannel board stories and books that encourage early literacy. There is a limit of 46 participants per program, which will be strictly enforced. Free tickets will be passed out five minutes prior to the start of the program.
  • Sept. 22 - Family Story Night offers a fun hour for the entire family!  Read aloud, enjoy group songs and finger plays.  This is a drop-in program.

For additional information, details and possible changes to the schedule please refer to the Dublin library website.
