Grab & Go Kids Planner: Octopretzel, Egg Hunts, Nature Shows

Here's your weekly roundup of kid-friendly events in the Tri-Valley for Wednesday through Sunday.

Looking for something fun to do with the kids this week?

Our Grab & Go calendar focuses on five kid-friendly events in the Tri-Valley. And we've added an out-of-town outing for an easy weekend getaway.

Family Best Bets of the Week


  • Where/When:
    Friday at 10 a.m. at the Village Theatre in Danville
    Why Go:
      Kids aren't the only ones who enjoy listening to the whimsical and fun songs performed by Bay Area band Octopretzel. Parents, too, love the show that integrates elements of many cultures, including African drumming, Middle Eastern percussion, klezmer fiddling and more.

  • Where/When:
    Saturday at 10 a.m. at Emerald Glen Park in Dublin
    Why Go:
    Dublin's Spring Eggstravaganza features a lot more than just egg hunts. Kids will also have fun with the event's bounce houses, arts and crafts, face painting, parachute games, bubble station, tractor exhibit, carnival games and other activities.
    Price: $6.50 for Dublin residents and $7.50 for non-residents. The event requires advance registration


  • Where/When:
    Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasanton Library
    Why Go:
    Kids 5 and up get to see live honey bees at work while learning about what bees do and how they do it. Your kids will also learn about the beekeepers who care for these fascinating creatures.
    Price:
    Free!


    • Where/When:
      Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Danville Community Center
      Why Go:
      Your youngsters will be kept busy for hours with a full morning of egg hunts, craft projects, face painting and photos with the Easter Bunny.
      Price:
      $5 for Danville residents and $6 for non-residents. Advance registration is required.

    • Where/When: Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at Sycamore Grove in Livermore
      Why Go: Take the family on a short, easy walk through the park as the ranger shows you what animals come out and play at night. Reservations are requested: 925-960-2400.
      Price: $2 donation is requested

    Head to the Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco on Saturday for the Bay Area's largest Earth Day celebration, where you'll find a sustainable living roadshow, youth "Eco Zone," educational games, live music and earth-friendly exhibitors.
