Here's your weekly roundup of kid-friendly events in the Tri-Valley on Wednesday through Sunday.

Looking for something fun to do with the kids this week?

Our Grab & Go calendar focuses on five kid-friendly events in the Tri-Valley. We've also added an out-of-town outing for an easy weekend getaway.

Family Best Bets of the Week


  • Where/When: Through May 7 at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley in Danville.
    Why Go: Your kids will love this exhibit about California's most beloved and feared animal, which once roamed the canyons of Mount Diablo and Las Trampas hills. The exhibit, which opened Sunday, features several special events such as a Family Day on March 21. Click the link for an event schedule.
    Price: $5 family/$3 adults/$1 children/$2 students with ID

  • Where/When:
    Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Junction Avenue K-8 School in Livermore.
    Why Go:
    Take your kids to see amazing scientific projects created by local students. In addition to the science displays and demonstrations, you'll be treated to the music of Scientific Jam. Hands-on activities for kids.

    Free

  • Where/When:
    Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blackhawk Plaza in Danville.
    Why Go:
     Blackhawk Plaza hosts a family-friendly "St. Patrick's Day Party in the Plaza" with live music, face painting, party favors and prizes for the most creative "wearin' o' the green."
    Price: Free

  • Where/When:
    Friday at 10 a.m. at the Village Theatre in Danville.
    Why Go:
    Preschoolers will be mesmerized by the tricks of the Bay Area's award-winning Zappo the Magician.
    Price:

  • Where/When: Saturday at 2 p.m. at Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton
    Why Go: Stretch out the St. Patrick's Day holiday with a special kids performance of traditional Irish and Scottish music.

Pack up for a fun family overnight adventure on Friday night at Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland. The "Slumber with the Stars" overnight event includes games, exhibit exploration, a hike in the redwoods, live planetarium show and looking through the museum's famous telescopes. $75 members/$85 non-members.
