Readers and Pet owners should be aware of a developing recall of Diamond Brand and Kirkland Brand Pet Foods.....the apparent problem is a salmonella contamination that has affected some people and pets in contact with affected products.
Signs of salmonella illness in pets generally includes vomiting, diarrhea, fever, lethargy and decreased appetite. If you feel as though your pet has been affected by the recalled diets, please contact your local veterinarian for an appointment.

To determine if your pet food is recalled, check the production codes on the back of bags that have a number “2” or a “3” in the 9th position AND an “X” in the 10th or 11th position. The best-before dates for the recalled brands listed above are December 9, 2012 through April 7, 2013.
