Yep, Avril Lavigne Will Be Bagging Groceries at Pleasanton Safeway Today

Patch will be there to document the young female rocker's appearance in our humble town to support 'Support for People with Disabilities' fundraising campaign.

Well, the word is out. Yes, Avril Lavigne, a rock star type who made it big when she was a teen, is the celebrity guest at ’s Support for People with Disabilities fundraising campaign.

The event, which will take place around 1 p.m. at the Bernal Avenue Safeway store, will benefit Easter Seals, Special Olympics and an array of organizations that help people with disabilities live fuller, more independent lives.

Lavigne will welcome guests and participate in Safeway’s ever-popular Celebrity Bagging Challenge.

Pleasanton Patch Editor Tanya Rose, a metal fan herself, will be there this afternoon to bring you the scoop.

Each year, Safeway raises money to support organizations that help people with disabilities live fuller lives. To date, the company has raised and donated more than $130 million for this important cause.

This year, as a way to thank those who donate, Safeway is partnering with Lavigne to bring a new, exclusive video element and enhanced fundraising to the effort.

Customers who donate $5 can receive a coupon and code to view exclusive videos of the star.

Also on site will be Safeway Executive Vice President Larree Renda, Easter Seals President and CEO James E. Williams, Jr., Special Olympics President and COO Brady Lum, and two-time Super Bowl winner and San Francisco 49ers legend Dwight Clark.

Clark will also participate in the Celebrity Bagging Challenge.
