Sprouts & Shutters: Pet Food Express Closing

The Pet Food Express in Dublin will be closing in early June. According to the store website, June 9 is the planned closing date for the store, which is located at 4666 Tassajara Road.

Linda Loza of Pet Food Express wrote, via email:

"We are closing the store but ALL the employees are staying with us and going to our store in Pleasanton (just 2 miles away), Livermore, Danville or Castro Valley. We have a lovely sign there with all the employee pictures & what stores they are going to. We value all our wonderful co-workers in Dublin and made sure they were happy with their new assignments. The store is not 'going out of business' - it is just closing because the lease is ending. We hope to serve all our customers in nearby Pleasanton (as well as our other stores close by). In fact, if customers are interested - they can sign up on our iPad in Dublin, and we'll send by email a coupon for a free bag of dog or cat food (6 lbs & under) good at our nearby stores! We want to make sure our customers know about our other stores close by and that we are taking care of our employees as well as our valued customers."

A Patch reader who uses the name "Pleasanton Mom" posted a comment about the closure in a recent Patch article:

"Pet food express in Dublin is closing this week. The young workers there could not be nicer or more helpful. It's sad that these young adults will be losing their jobs. They said the company might be looking for a larger space where they may even have pet adoptions (homeless and rescues)."

The Pet Food Express in Livermore has also suffered a recent set-back, after a driver crashed into the store, causing enough damage to shut down the pet wash for repairs.

Pet Food Express corporate offices and distribution are based out of Oakland. In Tri-Valley, in addition to the Dublin store, there are locations in Livermore, Pleasanton, Danville.
