Gas Prices Start to Climb

It's summertime, and fuel prices have started their seasonal ascent.

Penny by penny, gasoline prices continue their slow, midsummer rise back toward where they were in late spring.

In the East Bay, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is now $3.80, according to a California State Automobile Association website.

That's three cents more than they were a week ago. However, it's still 10 cents lower than they were a month ago.

This is the second straight week gas prices have inched up at the pumps after falling throughout the month of June.

It's a similar story across California. The average price for unleaded regular is also $3.80 a gallon. That's 2 cents more than last week and 11 cents less than in mid-June.
