They couldn't make the pizzas fast enough at Vitos Express on Tuesday, with the community coming out in full force to show its support for 8-year-old Sirous Sadaghiani.
Hundreds of large pizzas were sold with 30 percent of the proceeds going to the Sadaghiani family. There was a raffle and silent auction to help raise funds.
The outpouring of support was for the third grade John Green Elementary School student, who was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor last month and is currently at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.
The wait was long at times, but everyone stayed patient to do what they could to help Sirous.
"We've been telling people its going to be a two-hour wait and it doesn't stop them," said Tara Magnuson, who organized the fundraiser. "People understand this is for Sirous."
Sirous' good friend and soccer teammate Eddie Padilla, 8, was one of hundreads at Vito's on Tuesday. He visited Sirous over winter break at the hospital and read a card he made to his friend.
"I'm very grateful to live in a community that has showed this much support for a family in need and doing everything they can to help," said Eddie's mother, Xochitl Padilla, who has known the Sadaghiani family for years.
It wasn't just friends at Vito's. People who had never met the Sadaghiani family showed up to express their support for the family.
"One customer, who had never been to Vito's, said they saw the story on the Pleasanton Patch and had to come," Magnuson said. "They said they recently lost someone to cancer and wanted to do whatever they could to help."
