Construction on New Target in Full Swing

The walls for the new Target in East Dublin are up.

If you're a Target shopper and drive eastbound on Interstate 580, then you've probably noticed the walls are up for the new building. Even the Target circle logo is apparent on one wall.

The new store is expected to open in October, according to the city's Economic Developer Director, Linda Maurer.

The Target will be located on the west side of the Fallon Road overpass in a complex called Fallon Gateway Shopping Center. Fallon Gateway is currently marketing space for lease.

The Fallon Gateway Project is a commercial center that includes more than 350,000 square feet of retail development.

According to Maurer, that space includes enough square footage for four to five restaurants. There is no confirmation yet on what shops or restaurants could move in near the Target.

Dublin needs a FRY'S electronics in the old Home Depot Expo store next to the current Target. Would be a boon to that shopping area. To much attention is being paid to East Dublin.

Driving Westbound on 580, I mostly notice the disintegrating pavement destroying my car. C'mon, guys, at least throw a little asphalt down until the I-580 project is raised from the dead.

Diane - The existing Target will remain there. Dublin will just now have two Targets!

Geezers is right, we need a Frys electronics, and too much attention is being directed to West Dublin. On the other hand West Dublin can keep their traffic congestion right where they are. West Dublin would be much appreciate and a perfect town to house a Trader Joe's.

How about a Guitar Center? I also wish there was an El Pollo Loco in the area....
Cookie April 20, 2011 at 06:07 PM
Donna & Chris, you might be new to Dublin but we had a really nice Red Lobster here years ago back in the late 90's. It was located in the same parking lot of our current Target, in the opposite corner facing out towards Chuck e cheese. It is a Laborer's Union office now.

What about Bucca di Beppo Italian Restaurant? The only branches are located in San Francisco and Palo Alto. Bucca di Beppo is an Italian family restaurant and have lots of variety of food selection good for any ages.

I vote for a BJ'S Brewery!! http://www.bjsbrewhouse.com/ The nearest one to Livermore is in Stockton or Modesto!! BJ's has a HUGE menu (and reasonable prices and nice atmosphere) -- if you can't find something you like on the menu there is something wrong with you!!! :)
Joanne April 20, 2011 at 07:07 PM
Whole Foods!!! World Market!!! Island's Restaurant!!!
Sandra April 20, 2011 at 07:11 PM
Then what will happen to the Livermore Target?
Amber Bowman April 20, 2011 at 07:19 PM
I agree with Mama Tex. I would love to have BJ's Brewery there.
KL April 20, 2011 at 07:31 PM
So we now have 3 Targets within 5 miles of each other?
VJ April 20, 2011 at 07:45 PM
Islands, Whole Foods Market, Claimjumper!! I'd also like another Sweet Tomato, the one is Pleasanton is too small and crowded.
Lisa April 20, 2011 at 07:46 PM
Red Lobster is NEEDED, we have no seafood options without paying lots and lots....
Demi April 20, 2011 at 08:17 PM
How about a Nordstrom Rack? I'd LOVE that!
kc April 20, 2011 at 08:32 PM
Why do we need ANOTHER Target???!!! Green hills are beautiful scenery! Why do they have to build everywhere?!!! Just another reason people keep moving farther out.
SL April 20, 2011 at 08:37 PM
Nordstrom Rack, Loehmann's, Whole Foods, and Bucca di Beppo are my votes!
Camaro on Cinderblocks April 20, 2011 at 10:05 PM
The traffic is horrific. Fixed the freeway first! Whole Foods = OVERRATED...waste of money Trader Joes in Dublin = Now we're talking
Theresa April 20, 2011 at 10:34 PM
Buca Di Beppo, Red Lobster, Del Taco anyone? we need some cool stuff - not five Applebees!!!
VJ April 20, 2011 at 10:43 PM
Jim Boy's Tacos or a Del Taco would be sweet!
Theresa April 20, 2011 at 10:44 PM
OOH forgot Jim Boys's!
VJ April 20, 2011 at 10:44 PM
The Nordie's Rack should go in the Livermore outlet's site.
Sandra April 20, 2011 at 11:18 PM
I would love a Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and Chipotle in Livermore.
Livermore_Fan April 21, 2011 at 01:41 AM
Nordstom Rack was one of the original anchors at the outlet mall. Hopefully it still is. I think the mall is scheduled to break ground around June.
yuli_86 April 21, 2011 at 04:37 PM
Olive Garden, Red Lobster,Chipotle!
Shannon April 21, 2011 at 11:46 PM
It would be nice to reach this booming area from west Livermore without getting on the freeway. I hope there is going to be a frontage road in the plans. Buca di Beppo's would be great.
Kathryn April 22, 2011 at 12:39 AM
Cookie, I didn't know there was an Olive Garden in Tracy...thanks for the info. We'll have to try it.
Danielle April 25, 2011 at 08:59 PM
Container Store, Crate & Barrel (and/or CB2), Home Goods, Claim Jumpers, a nice day spa, Sur La Table,
Jen Bohn February 06, 2012 at 02:34 AM
I will never step foot in this Target again. The employees are rude and make you feel like you are bothering them when you ask for assistance.
