Here's your weekly roundup of kid-friendly events in the Tri-Valley for Wednesday through Sunday.

Our weekly Grab & Go calendar focuses on five kid-friendly events in the Tri-Valley. And we've added an out-of-town outing for an easy weekend getaway.

Family Best Bets of the Week


  • Where/When:
    Participating businesses in Downtown Danville on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
    Why Go:
    This is one event that is for the whole family, dogs included. Doggie Night starts at Molly's Pup-Purr-ee and continues at pet-related businesses in Downtown Danville at which you can meet pet sitters, photographers, trainers, rescue groups, veterinarians and other pet-related experts. Meet other dog lovers, watch a police dog demo and enjoy live music.

  • Where/When: in Dublin on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
    Why Go: Take advantage of family-friendly cooking and exercise demonstrations, free health screenings and guided walks around the park during a special "Healthy Night" themed Farmers' Market. The Valley Children's Mobile Museum will be open for a tour.

    • Where/When:
      in Livermore on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
      Why Go:
      See the wonders of the night sky during a ranger-led program that takes you on a three-mile trip through the park. Along the way you'll hear stories from around the world about the origins of the spring constellations.

    • Where/When:
      in Pleasanton on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
      Why Go:
      Bring the whole family to this celebration of mothers who are artists. This show will include a variety of rock, swing, jazz, songwriting, poetry and film making. Click the link above for a list of featured performers.

    • Where/When:
      in San Ramon on Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
      Why Go:
      San Ramon's hugely popular Art & Wind Festival draws upwards of 60,000 people lured by arts and crafts booths, an interactive "Kid Zone," kite-flying demonstrations, live performances on three stages and a hot-air balloon launch. Learn more on Patch's .

    Need a quick getaway? Here’s this week’s pick: This week's quick getaway is just a short drive from the Tri-Valley. The 22nd annual Bay Area KidFest takes place at Mount Diablo High School in Downtown Concord. Kids can meet "Dora the Explorer," jump on the "EuroBungy" trampoline, visit the Cap'n Hook Fun House, listen to live music and much more. The event takes place Saturday, Sunday and Monday and costs $5 per person with a can of food for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano ($6 without).
