    Downtown Pleasanton on Wednesday from 6 - 9 p.m.
    Why Go:
    Downtown Pleasanton welcomes back its family-friendly weekly First Wednesday Street Fair with a special Cinco de Mayo themed party featuring street booths, shopping and dining specials, live entertainment and more.

  • Where/When: Barnes & Noble in Dublin on Friday at 5 p.m.
    Why Go: Young fans of the hugely popular graphic novels of Geronimo Stilton will love this author event and 90-minute class on how to draw Geronimo Stilton and his friends.

      Dublin Heritage Park and Museum in Dublin on Saturday from 2 - 4 p.m.
      Why Go:
      Your kids will enjoy spending time with mom, grandma and other special women in their lives during a special Mother's Day afternoon celebration featuring tea, treats, live music and special craft.

      Bishop Ranch 2 (150 Sunset Dr.) in San Ramon from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
      Why Go:
      Take the kids to the opening day of San Ramon's new year-round farmer's market at its new location to enjoy face painting, balloon artists, live music, Mother's Day crafts and more. Olympic swimmer Randall Bal will also be at the event. Get more details at sanramonfarmersmarket.com.

      Sycamore Grove/Veterans Park in Livermore on Sunday at 8 a.m.
      Why Go:
      Start your Mother's Day off right with a two-hour nature program that takes an in-depth look at local mother (and father) birds who are busy defending their territories, protecting their brood from nest robbers, feeding their young and teaching them the finer points of flying. Bring your binoculars!

    Need a quick getaway? Here’s this week’s pick: The Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito presents a festive, family-friendly celebration of Cinco de Mayo with a special day-long festival on Saturday. Families will learn about the culture and folklore of Mexico through music, dance and traditional crafts plus be treated to the live music of Mariachi Los Cachorros and special Cinco de Mayo dishes.
