Get Out: Family Weekend Planner

Here's your weekend roundup of Patch's picks for family fun in the Tri-Valley for Aug. 5 - 7.

Looking for something fun and inexpensive to do with the kids this weekend? We're here to help with Patch's top five local picks in the Tri-Valley.

Party at the pool in Danville, travel back to the '80s with Tainted Love at the Blackhawk Plaza, take your young skateboard fans to a mini ramp contest in Livermore, get moving at the Fast & Furious Festival in Pleasanton and sample local foods during Taste of Downtown in Livermore.

Where/When: Friday from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at in Danville
Why Go: Take a dip while enjoying pool games, prizes and music during Danville's final summer "Family Fun Night at the Pool" event. Tonight's theme is "Wild, Wild West Party."
Price: $2 for spectators, $2 for children 12 and under and $3 for swimmers 13 and over

Where/When: Friday at 7 p.m. at the in Danville.
Why Go: Travel back to the 80s and listen to your favorite retro dance hits during this free family-friendly Friday evening concert. Tip: These popular concerts get crowded so get there early for the best parking and seating.
Price: Free

Where/When:  Saturday at 12 p.m. at Street Science Skate Shop in Livermore
Why Go: Got young skateboard fans in your family? Take them to the new Street Science Skate Shop for its first Mini Ramp Contest. The grand prize winner will receive $150. Stay after the contest for live music.
Price: Participants pay a $5 entry fee

Where/When: Saturday & Sunday at from 12 - 5 p.m. at Flag Pole Plaza and participating venues in Downtown Livermore
Why Go: Sample local foods and wines, listen to live music and even take the family for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage during Downtown Livermore's festive foodie event.
Price: $35 in advance online and $40 at the event (Flag Pole Plaza) for glasses and tasting passports. Food tasting only passports cost $15.

Where/When: Sunday from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Main Street (beginning at the Pleasanton Arch) in Pleasanton
Why Go: Join the inaugural Safeway Fast & Furious Festival that features a 5K, 1-Mile Open and Criterium plus free kids' runs and bike rides. Hang out for music, bike blender smoothies, face painting and other race day festivities.
Price: Kids run free. Race participants fees range from $15 - 30. Click here to register.
