Where/When: in Danville on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
Why Go: The Bay Area's Funkmode performance company presents a family-friendly Hip Hop musical filled with acting, dancing, stand-up comedy, singing and rapping. Learn more about Funkmode on the organization's website.

2. Livermore Rodeo Parade
Where/When: Along Second Street in downtown Livermore on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
Why Go: Livermore kicks off its rodeo weekend with a free festive parade downtown. Kids will love the clowns and clown car, sheriff's mounted posse, military Humvees, high school marching band and many other community group entries. The rodeo itself takes place Saturday and Sunday at Robertson Park. Learn more about the rodeo and ticket pricing on the rodeo website.
Price: Parade is free

Where/When: in Pleasanton on Saturday from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Why Go: Learn about the history humans share with horses during this special program featuring kids crafts, "horsing around" and a special guest. "Horse 'n Around" is suitable for kids ages 5 and up.

Where/When: in Dublin on Saturday from 1 - 6 p.m.
Why Go: Cheer on young contestants during the 6th Annual Valley Teen Idol competition. This year's event, hosted by the San Ramon Valley Rotary Club, also features food from East Bay restaurants and live music.
Price: $35 adults/$20 students. Purchase tickets online. (Proceeds benefits the local community.)

Where/When: in San Ramon on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Why Go: During the free Tractor-Rama kids event, the family can see the farm's antique tractors and farm equipment in action plus take a ride on a real farm tractor. Tours of Forest Home Farm Historic Park and the Glass House Museum are also available.
Price: Kids event is free. Optional park and museum tours cost $5 for one or $8 for both tours.
