What's Open, What's Closed on New Year's

Check out holiday hours and schedules for government offices, schools and public transit for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Here's a look at at what will be open and closed on New Years Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, and New Year's Day, Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.

City of Dublin: City Hall and the Shannon Community Center are closed on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. 

The Dublin library will close at 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and will be closed all day on Jan. 1. 

Sunday service on Wheels, no Tri-Valley Rapid Bus on Wednesday, Jan. 1. 

Garbage service: No garbage pick-up on Jan. 1. Customers whose regular service day falls on New Year's Day (Wednesday, Jan. 1) or later in the week will receive service a day late. 

Alameda County, state and federal offices: Administrative offices are open on Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1.

BART: BART will run a normal weekday schedule on Dec. 31 but will extend evening service until 3 a.m. Trains will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule on Jan. 1, with service beginning at 8 a.m. See the BART website for more information.

Banks: Open Dec. 31, closed on Jan. 1.

Stores, businesses: Varies. Most restaurants and taverns and some retail stores will be open on New Year's Day.
