Tahoe Snow Resorts Are Now Open

Many Tahoe ski resorts have opened trails already.

If you're looking for something to do Thanksgiving week other than eat or shop, many Tahoe snow resorts are now open.

After winds delayed Friday's initial opening day, Heavenly Mountain Resort opened for the 2013-2014 ski and ride season on Saturday.

The resort opened the Gondola and Tamarack Express, accessing 14 acres and 1.5 miles of skiable terrain. The resort plans to open additional terrain this week, conditions permitting.

Northstar California Resort also opened Saturday, and Kirkwood Mountain Resort is slated to open on Monday, giving season pass holders access to all three Tahoe resorts leading into the Thanksgiving holiday.

Here are some additional 2013/14 Lake Tahoe ski resort opening dates (weather and conditions permitting):

Alpine Meadows – December 13
Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe – November 27
Sierra-at-Tahoe – To be announced
Squaw Valley – November 27
Sugar Bowl – To be announced
Homewood Mountain Resort – December 13
