Dublin Invites Residents to Keep Cool at City Facilities

With forecasters predicting temperatures to reach close to 100-degrees on Saturday, the possibility of heat exhaustion or stroke is a real danger. The City of Dublin welcomes residents who seek relief from the high temperatures to relax in its air conditioned community facilities.

Dublin has several great facilities to beat the heat in various locations throughout the City that are open and available to the public for use throughout the day. Hours vary at each location, and the City is extending hours of some facilities this Saturday, June 8.

The Dublin Senior Center located at 7600 Amador Valley Boulevard features a lounge area with a television, reference computers, lending library and puzzle table. The Senior Center will be offering extended hours this Saturday due to the hot weather, and will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please feel free to drop-in as there is no admission fee. Starting at 9:00 a.m., please drop-in and enjoy Ping Pong, Tai Chi or Ballroom Line Dance. Please call (925) 556-4511 or visit www.dublinseniorcenter.com.

The Dublin Swim Center is a great place to cool down. The facility is located adjacent to Dublin High School at 8157 Village Parkway and has a wading pool, competitive swimming area and deep end with a diving board. The 100-foot long waterslide features a cool splash down at the end. The Swim Center will be open extended hours on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is FREE after 5:00 p.m. For more information please call (925) 556-4590.

Take a tour at the Dublin Heritage Park and Museums. Located at the corner of Dublin Boulevard and Donlon Way, the museums in the Murray Schoolhouse and Kolb House are open from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Don’t miss the special exhibit “Suburbia – From Ranch Town to Ranch House” highlighting the early development of modern Dublin between 1961 and 1966.

On display are the original advertising for the neighborhoods of San Ramon Village, Silvergate, Ecco Park and Redwing Valley; the evocative images of Dublin by renowned photographer Bill Owens; and, artifacts from the “Dublin Maid.” Admission is FREE. Please call (925) 452-2101.

Beat the heat by finding a new book, magazine, CD or DVD at the Dublin Public Library.
