A Dublin teen who battled cancer died on Saturday.

Nicole Malone, 14, slipped away in the afternoon on Feb. 22 after she fought valiantly for five years. On their Facebook page, the Dublin Unified School District described Malone as "a bright, vivacious young girl who always had a smile for everyone."

On Friday, Malone's fellow students from Wells Middle School walked down the street from their school to her house to perform a flash mob in her honor. She watched the demonstration on her iPad via FaceTime.

Thoughts, wishes and prayers for Malone and her family have been posted online from all around the community as people mourn the death of 14-year-old from Dublin.

The Dublin schools and the community have worked to raise money to help the Malone family. Donations to the Malone Family can be made to the Safe America Credit Union in Pleasanton. Reference account number 99909009.
