The event is a part of National Day of Action on Climate and Action August of OFA. The forum will be joined by Judy Pope of 350 Bay Area, Marti Roach of Citizens Climate Lobby, Barbara-Ann Lewis of University of the Commons, and Susan Strong of The Metaphor Project as speakers as well as public and OFA members in East Bay area. OFA is working to support President Obama's legislative agenda focusing on 4 issues Comprehensive Immigration Reform, Implementation of Obamacare, Gun Violence Prevention and Climate Change. The president's Climate Plan consists of four goals Create the first ever EPA limits on carbon emission for existing power plants, double production of clean energy in the US by 2020, prepare the US for the impacts of climate change and lead the international community to address he global threat of climate change. The goals of local chapters of OFA are to advocate for the President's plan, change the conversation on climate change, pressure Congress to enact laws to protect the planet and US citizens, and to encourage local communities to switch to renewable energy. Try-Valley Progressives, the local team in OFA East Bay Central Chapter is hosting the forum and the topics includes practices which affect our climate, what is happening in California, what individuals can do, political solutions, and how to frame the message to engage all Americans in the issue which will not go away. The forum includes a poster session and offers a chance to join the movements to make a difference in our communities.
