District Provides Recycled Water for Construction, Saves Drinking Water

To save precious drinking water during the drought, the Dublin San Ramon Services District requires contractors to use recycled water instead of potable water for construction activities like dust control, grading and compaction.

Construction crews have two ways to obtain recycled water for their projects:

1) Apply for a purple recycled water construction meter at the District Office, 7051 Dublin Blvd, Dublin. The meter can be used to withdraw recycled water from the purple hydrants scattered throughout Dublin and San Ramon. The Recycled Water Construction Meter application packet can be found at http://www.dsrsd.com/img/img_recycled_water_fill_station/RW_meter_packet.pdf. For more information call Ryan Prendergraft at 925-875-2242.

2)      Apply for a permit to fill water trucks at the Jeffrey G. Hansen Water Recycling Facility, 7399 Johnson Drive, Pleasanton. Contact Ann Cigliuti, 925-875-2334, to schedule an appointment. The Recycled Water Fill Station application packet can be found at http://www.dsrsd.com/img/img_recycled_water_fill_station/RW_fill_station_packet.pdf.

“Recycled water is an uninterruptible, drought-proof supply, and it reduces our need for imported water,” says Dan Gallagher, Operations Manager. “This community is very fortunate to have recycled water to help us survive this drought.”

Founded in 1953, Dublin San Ramon Services District serves 157,000 people, providing potable and recycled water service to Dublin and the Dougherty Valley area of San Ramon, wastewater collection and treatment to Dublin and south San Ramon, and wastewater treatment to Pleasanton (by contract).
