Dear Dublin Resident – Thank you very much for your feedback. Please allow me to clarify,Read More though that this job opportunity is not a door-to-door canvassing position by any means. We are a local Bay Area non-profit that provides job training and employment in energy efficiency and water conservation. Our youth employees are educated in climate change and simple hardware installation. They then have an opportunity to provide their own community members with free home energy assessments and install for them free energy and water saving devices. They also gain a lot of experience in client interaction and customer service skills by giving clients hints and tips for further savings. The entire summer is a chance for local youth to grow in professionalism and service. They are also empowered to build a healthier and more sustainable community. And just to reassure you, our Green House Calls, which is what we call this service, are pre-booked ahead of time with clients who sign up with management staff via a number of different channels, such as community events, farmers’ markets, online newsletters, etc. Thus our youth are not tasked with canvassing to book their own appointments. We’ve been running our youth employment programs for over 13 years and we invite you to learn more about our city-supported program on our website here: http://www.risingsunenergy.org/content/cyes.html. On the City of Dublin’s website: http://www.ci.dublin.ca.us/index.aspx?NID=1291 We also invite you view this video, which also outlines the steps and benefits of our program: http://youtu.be/APx0yo5pYKo. Once again, thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your concern as the experience and growth of our youth is a top priority for our organization as well. Please feel free to provide us with further feedback on our website. We welcome comments and questions to help us continue to grow our programs as well. This will actually be our first year in Dublin and we are excited for our professional Youth Energy Specialists to serve the hundreds of residents who have already signed up and many more! We invite any young people interested in this professional opportunity and any community members with questions to attend our info session this Tuesday, May 28th. Hope to see you there!

Door to door marketing does NOT work. There's a reason why companies like this only hire ages 18-22Read More because they don't know any better- people are literally dropped off from a van expected to walk around all day with a clip board- which is far from a real job. Instead of canvassing, utilize social media and less intrusive forms of obtaining customers. You could opt to send mail-outs inviting residents to an informational breakfast or something. Signed, someone who pretends they're not home every time I see a poor kid canvassing the neighborhood.
