Wildfire Training Burn Scheduled

Alameda County Fire Department will conduct training burns Monday and Tuesday.

There will be smoke in the air in Dublin on Monday and Tuesday as part of a training exercise for local firefighters.

The Alameda County Fire Department is conducting controlled vegetation fires from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days near the sheriff's regional training center on Madigan Road.

About 100 acres will be scorched intentionally between the county jail and Barner Avenue.

The low-intensity blazes are designed to provide firefighters with training and to reduce fuel for unplanned wildfires.

Fire personnel went door to door in nearby neighborhoods this weekend to alert people to the controlled burns and accompanying smoke. Residents were advised to keep their doors and windows closed from Monday morning to Wednesday morning.
