"Mythbusters" stars Adam Savage and Kari Byron spoke Wednesday evening at Dublin High School as part of National Engineers Week.

The Discovery Channel show examines the validity of popular myths and urban legends.

Savage and Byron answered questions from students in a moderated panel session and talked about the show, the importance of science and about their backgrounds.

A representative from Lawrence Livermore Lab presented DUSD board members with a check for $10,000 from Lawrence Livermore National Security to show support for science in schools.

The show is often filmed in Dublin and it was less than three months ago when one of its experiments went awry at the Alameda County bomb range, sending a cannonball into a nearby neighborhood.

There were seats for 1,000 people and event organizers said all the tickets were taken within 24 hours of publicizing the event.
