Livermore Resident Helps Foil Suspected Drug Deal

Police receive tip from Livermore man of possible drug deal at Carnegie Park.

A suspected drug deal was interrupted Wednesday after police received a tip from a resident, Livermore police officer Traci Rebiejo said.

About noon, police dispatch received a call from a man having lunch at . He reported overhearing a group of teens discussing drug sales.

Police responded to the scene and contacted two teen boys.

A 16-year-old boy was found to be in possession of 0.31 grams of marijuana. He was cited and released to his guardian, Rebiejo said.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was taken to the Alameda County Juvenile Hall in San Leandro.

Rebiejo said the suspected drug deal likely would have gone unnoticed if it weren't for the resident calling police.

"Community members can help be the eyes and ears for us," she said. "If you have a funny feeling about something, you should call us. We’ll get out there and we’ll see what’s going on."
